Tarilon Technology Services

Why Tarilon Exists

Paul Whitlock founded Tarilon in 2010 after working in software engineering, technical support, and Apple Education sales. Based in Naperville, the company was built for small businesses that depend on technology but do not need a full internal IT department.

Too many owners had learned to stop asking technology questions. They were talked over, talked down to, or handed recommendations without enough context to make an informed decision. Tarilon took a different approach: explain the issue, outline the options and costs, and let the owner decide.

That approach still shapes how we work. We learn each client’s people, systems, and plans instead of treating every request as an isolated ticket. We also build meaningful security into our managed plans because smaller organizations face serious threats even when their resources are limited.

Today, we support businesses across Chicago and the Western Suburbs, including organizations with Windows, Mac, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace environments. Our role is simple: keep technology working, help protect what matters, and make every recommendation understandable.

How We Work with Clients

Our working principles come from a simple idea: good technology advice should help owners understand and remain in control.

Explain the Reasoning

A recommendation is only useful when you understand the problem it addresses. We discuss the options, costs, advantages, and limitations without talking down to you.

Know the Business

Technology decisions should reflect how your people work and where the company is going. We base our advice on that context rather than applying the same answer everywhere.

Protect From the Start

A basic plan should not leave a small business needlessly exposed. We include substantive protection at the entry level, then adjust the security approach as risks and needs evolve.

Respect Client Choice

We bring an informed opinion and explain why we hold it. Whether you choose Apple or Windows, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, the decision remains yours.

Get Clear About Your Next IT Decision

Start with a free assessment and a straightforward conversation about what is working, what is not, and what concerns you most. You will get practical context to help you evaluate the next step without being pressured into a decision.
